Term Position: AT Outreach Facilitator
The Neil Squire Society uses technology, knowledge, and passion to empower people with disabilities. Our programs and services connect people with disabilities to appropriate technology, develop their skills, and then connect participants to employment, education, or other community engagement.
Job Overview:
The AT Outreach Facilitator will work in Neil Squire’s Assistive Technology Help Desk program. The AT Help Desk program’s goal is to help reduce the employment gap for persons with disabilities by providing easy access to vendor-neutral, up-to-date information regarding Assistive Technology solutions for education and/or employment. We aim to build capacity, for persons with disabilities and the organizations that offer services, around knowledge and use of assistive technology. The AT Outreach Facilitator will be primarily responsible for developing and delivering Assistive Technology Information outreach to the Maritimes. These will include regional travel to deliver presentations and information sessions/exhibits to organizations such as those listed below. The AT Outreach Facilitator will be responsible for determining how best to initiate contact, and will work collaboratively with the Neil Squire Atlantic Solutions team members as well as the Neil Squire staff at Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island offices:
• Post secondary institutions
• Employment engagement specialists serving persons with disabilities
• Disability service providers in the Maritimes
• Other non-profit networks and organizations that serve persons with disabilities
• Provincial government accessibility support programs
• Career developers
• High schools
• Rehab hospitals
The AT Outreach Facilitator will implement and promote this project regionally by coordinating events, acquiring local publicity via local and social media, developing relationships as well as crucial partnerships locally with the above-mentioned list.
Connecting to people with disabilities that can benefit from assistive technology solutions is an important element of this role and this can include hosting presentations, booths at disability events, and meeting directly with disability organizations and people with disabilities. It is important the person is detailed oriented and performs administrative duties such as tracking project activities, AT inquiries, and collecting mailing list sign-ups. The successful individual must also have their own means of transportation with reimbursement for travel expenses provided by Neil Squire.
The successful candidate will report on duties and tasks to the AT Help Desk Coordinator and the Atlantic Regional Manager.

Responsibilities:
• Support development and execution of a 6-month pilot project to expand the Assistive Technology Help Desk into the Atlantic Provinces.
• Identify and steward relationships with interested individuals and family members, disability service providers, educational institutions, and community organizations
• Work with Assistive Technology Specialists to respond to inquiries about assistive technology
• Organize small and large-scale events, presentations, or workshops
• Research and identify possible tools and solutions
• Ensure that procedures and documentation are reviewed and completed
• Identify potential funding leads and partnerships from activities.
• Maintain all relevant statistics.
• Other duties required for the success of the project.
Qualifications:
• University Degree or College Certificate related to technology, human services, marketing, community planning, social work, occupational therapy, or education
• Exceptional communication, planning & organizational skills.
• Strong digital literacy skills, with the ability to learn new computer-based technologies and software, independently
• Experience in project planning and delivery
• As funding is provided through Government of Canada and targeted at youth, the successful candidate must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment; be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Foreign students are not eligible) and; is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
Additional Information:
• Work Schedule – Typically Monday to Friday
• 37.5 hours per week, with some evening / weekend events
• $21 / hour
• This is a home-office based position, based in the area to be served
• Term: Nov 2022 – Mar 31, 2023 (Possibility to extend depending on funding)
