How-to: Search for AT Programs and Services in N.B.
Finding and identifying assistive technology programs and services in New Brunswick is a challenge that presents itself to many assistive technology users and the people who support them. The problem is, there are so many sources of support and information out there, that finding those resources can be an overwhelming and frustrating experience for AT users and AT service providers alike. We saw this frustration (and felt it ourselves), so we’ve come up with a solution: The New Brunswick AT Programs and Services Database(new window)
In this How-to: Technology Guide, we’ll dive deeper into our database and learn more about what’s available in the province for AT programs and services, who’s offering those services , and how they can be accessed:
1. Go to our website.(new window)
2. From the menu located on the top right hand side of your screen go to select “Resources” then select “A.T. Programs in N.B.”
3. From here, you can simply click on the “Search” button and the entire list of services and programs will populate. From there, you can select the program or service you wish to learn more about, and you’ll see more information, including contact details.
4. To fine-tune your search, click on the drop down menu beside “Service Type”, and select the type of service that you’re looking for.
Let’s take a closer look at those categories:
AT Assessment & Recommendation – This service allows AT users and their supports to connect with the individuals who can assess their AT needs and make assistive technology recommendations based on individual’s specific needs.
AT Training – These services are designed to teach an AT user how to use and maintain their assistive technology.
AT Funding – Connects AT users with the funding necessary to purchase their AT.
AT Equipment Loan – This category provides users with a list of organizations that supply assistive technology users with assistive technology equipment on a rental basis.
Other AT Support – This represents a broad, catch-all category of organizations that provide a multitude of AT-related services.
5. Once you’ve selected a detailed view of an entry press the left-pointing arrow button below the entry to go back a step.
6. To go back to the original search screen, select “Back to Query Screen”. That’s all there is to it!
